YINK FAQ Series | Episode 1
Q1: What is the YINK Super Nesting feature? Can it really save that much material?
Answer:
Super Nesting™ is one of YINK’s core features and a major focus of continuous software improvements. From V4.0 to V6.0, every version upgrade has refined the Super Nesting algorithm, making layouts smarter and increasing material utilization.
In traditional PPF cutting, material waste often reaches 30%-50% due to manual layout and machine limitations. For beginners, working with complex curves and uneven car surfaces can lead to cutting errors, often requiring an entirely new sheet of material — significantly increasing waste.
By contrast, YINK Super Nesting offers a true “What You See Is What You Get” experience:
1.View the complete layout before cutting
2.Automatic rotation and defect area avoidance
3.≤0.03mm precision with YINK plotters to eliminate manual errors
4.Perfect match for complex curves and small parts
Real Example:
Standard PPF roll |
15 meters |
Traditional layout |
15 meters needed per car |
Super Nesting |
9–11 meters needed per car |
Savings |
~5 meters per car |
If your shop handles 40 cars per month, with PPF valued at $100/m:
5 m × 40 cars × $100 = $20,000 saved per month
That’s $200,000 in annual savings.
Pro Tip: Always click Refresh before using Super Nesting to avoid layout misalignment.
Q2: What should I do if I can’t find a car model in the software?
Answer:
YINK’s database contains both public and hidden data. Some hidden data can be unlocked with a Share Code.
Step 1 — Check the Year Selection:
The year refers to the initial release year of the vehicle, not the sale year.
Example: If a model was first released in 2020 and had no design changes from 2020 to 2025, YINK will only list the 2020 entry.
This keeps the database clean and fast to search. Seeing fewer years listed does not mean missing data — it simply means the model hasn’t changed.
Step 2 — Contact Support:
Provide:
Photos of the car (front, rear, front-left, rear-right, side)
Clear VIN plate photo
Step 3 — Data Retrieval:
If the data exists, support will send you a Share Code to unlock it.
If it’s not in the database, YINK’s 70+ global scanning engineers will collect the data.
New models: scanned within 3 days of release
Data production: around 2 days — total ~5 days to availability
Exclusive for Paid Users:
Access to 10v1 Service Group to request data directly from engineers
Priority handling for urgent requests
Early access to unreleased “hidden” model data
Pro Tip: Refresh the data after entering a Share Code to ensure it appears correctly.
